Dominique Villard was born in Nantes in 1928, and it is there that he pursues his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts. In the 1950s he settles in Quimper where he is appointed to teach at the École des Beaux-Arts et Arts Appliqués de Cornouaille. Amongst other subjects, he teaches decoration and graphic art, while continuing to work as a creative designer in advertising.
Having left teaching for the private sector, he joined the Maison LE MINOR, where for fifteen years he was a designer, and in charge of the department of the Popular Arts.
After setting up his own business, he continued his work as a designer/editor until his retirement, without however bringing to a halt his creative activities..
